Tánaiste welcomes the appointments to the Board of the International Fund for Ireland

The Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr. Eamon Gilmore, TD, has welcomed the appointments to the Board of the International Fund for Ireland by the Irish and British Governments. 

The appointments are:-

 

                                Dr Adrian Johnston, Chairman

                                Ms Dorothy Clarke

                                Ms Rose Mary Farrell

                                Ms Siobhán Fitzpatrick

                                Mr Billy Gamble

                                Mr David Graham

                                Mr Winston Patterson

In announcing these appointments, the two Governments expressed their very warm appreciation to the outgoing Chairman, Dr Denis Rooney, and Board Members, Ms Anne Henderson and Ms Mary Southwell, whose terms of office have ended.  The two Governments paid tribute to Dr Rooney, Ms Henderson and Ms Southwell for the exceptional service which they had given to the International Fund for Ireland.

The International Fund for Ireland is an international organisation established by the British and Irish Governments in 1986 with the objectives of promoting economic and social advance and of encouraging contact, dialogue and reconciliation between Nationalists and Unionists throughout Ireland.  Contributors to the Fund are the United States, the European Union, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

Dr Adrian Johnston, Mr David Graham, Ms Rose Mary Farrell and Mr Winston Patterson who were Members of the previous Board have been re-appointed for a further term.  The retiring Members of the previous Board are Dr Denis Rooney (Chairman), Ms Anne Henderson and Ms Mary Southwell.

Dr Adrian Johnston is a graduate of the University of Ulster and is currently an Engineer with Seagate (Ireland), based in Derry.  He has served on the Board of the IFI for the past three years.

Ms Dorothy Clarke is a graduate of NUI Galway and has worked with Sligo Co. County since 1999, having previously worked as CEO of Leitrim Co. Enterprise Board.  She has extensive experience in the community sector. 

Ms Rose Mary Farrell is currently based in Dundalk and is engaged in a wide range of community activities in Co Louth.  She has served on the Board of the IFI for the past three years.

Mrs Siobhán Fitzpatrick is the Chief Executive of Early Years had has previously worked in the statutory sector regarding the provision of Health and Social Services in Northern Ireland.

Mr Billy Gamble is an Economics graduate from Queens University and senior Northern Ireland civil servant who has been responsible for developing a number of key government policies in the area of community relations.

Mr David Graham is the retired Chief Executive of Fane Valley and has had business interests across Ireland – North and South.  He has served on the Board of the IFI for the past three years. 

Mr Winston Patterson is based in Donegal and is Chairman of Strabane / Lifford Development Commission and has interests in the voluntary and community sector.  He has served on the Board of the IFI for the past three years.
