New Ambassadors present Credentials 

Their Excellencies the Ambassador of  Jamaica and the Ambassador of the Republic of El Salvador presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

H.E. Mr. Anthony Smith Rowe  Johnson, Ambassador of Jamaica, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Pamela Johnson.

H.E. Mr. Werner Matías Romero, Ambassador of the Republic of El Salvador, was accompanied by Ms. Gilda Velásquez, Minister Counsellor at the Embassy.


Ms. Áine Brady, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children, represented the Government at the ceremony.

The following were also present:   Mr. Adrian O’Neill, Secretary-General to the President, and Ms. Marie Cross, Assistant Secretary, Ms. Kathleen White, Chief of Protocol and Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol, at the Department of Foreign Affairs. 

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant John Forde. 

The Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by troops drawn from the SSU (Supply and Services Unit), Curragh Camp, Co. Kildare, under the command of Lieutenant Diarmaid Murphy.  

The Army No. 1 Band was conducted by Captain Fergal Carroll.
