How to obtain an Irish passport
In general you should allow 4 weeks for the processing of your
passport via the Embassy or Honorary Consulate. This includes
the transmission of your application to the Dublin Passport Office
where the passport is printed and the return of the passport to
the Embassy by the diplomatic bag service.
What documents should be enclosed
-
Complete all sections of the application form correctly and
legibly. Don’t forget to enter your signature in the
signaturebox on the left hand side of this section.
-
Enclose two recently taken passport photographs.
-
Have the witness section of the application form and one
photograph signed by an appropriate person. The list of
appropriate professions is listed on the form for applications made
abroad. It can also be consulted on this website.
-
Enclose Proof of Citizenship (see below) if this is your first
passport application or your most recently issued passport in the
case of renewal applications. Photocopies are not acceptable.
-
Enclose the appropriate fee, including fee
to cover courier service, if required.

Courier fee
The Embassy does not recommend that important documents such as
passports are sent via the standard postal system. If you do not
wish to collect your passport in person, we recommend that a
courier service is used. If you wish the Embassy to arrange a
courier service for you, a fee of €15 is payable.
