Venice: 27 August - Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport, Mary Hanafin, T.D. - opens the Irish pavilion at the 12th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice. The Irish entry features the work of renowned architecture practice deBlacam and Meagher. The Irish pavilion is located at the Church of St. Gall, close to St. Mark's Square.
