Presentation of Credentials by British Ambassador
His Excellency Mr. Ivor Roberts CMG presented his Letter of Credence as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Great Britain to the President at Aras an Uachtarain today.
The Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Liz O'Donnell TD, was present at the ceremony.
The Ambassador was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Roberts, Mrs. Denise Holt, Deputy Head of Mission and by Colonel John D. Wilson, Defence Attache at the Embassy.
Also present were Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary to the President; Mr. Padraic MacKernan, Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Joseph Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs; and Mr. Gerald Angley, Third Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassador was escorted to and from Aras and Uachtarain by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the Second Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Liam Toland. A Guard of Honour was provided by the Second Infantry Battalion, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant J. Browne.
The Army Number One Band was conducted by Comandant Joseph Ryan.
