Statement by the Minister for Foreign Affairs
06/04/2001
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Brian Cowen T.D., strongly condemns the recent spate of sectarian attacks on the Fountain estate in Derry, as well as the gun attack in North Belfast last night. Speaking today, Minister Cowen said that "these attacks are potentially lethal." He added that "the people who engage in them represent nobody. If they don't stop a tragedy could happen." The Minister recalled that the Good Friday Agreement states that all citizens should be able to live free from sectarian harassment and that he supports this objective.
